Oralia Rego is known for bagging a gold medal for her Karate skills in "Black Belt Kumite" event in the 16 to 17 years category, in the Karate Budokan international tournament, held at Thoppil indoor stadium, in Thrissur district of Kerala, in 2009. She also won a bronze in girls individual as well as the team Kata, under black belt girl's category. She was also a finalist in the face-off round of Airtel's Verbattle Senior debate competition, the biggest English debate tournament, conducted during August 2009, at R V Dental College (Bangalore).[1] She and Delroy Pereira represented St Aloysius Pre-university College as a team and won a cash prize of Rs 10,000 as the runners-up at the 11th position.[2] She is the daughter of Joseph and Queenie Rego.[1]
